One of the recommended actions in the NEAP, which stems from the 1985 National conservation Strategy, is to form a body to support and coordinate environmental education, with membership from government, civil society, NGOs and other interested parties which would assist to increase environmental awareness and education.

The formation of ZANEEP is a step ahead in achieving the objectives of the NEAP. ZANEEP, through its objectives, seeks to promote co-ordinated and enhanced networking among partners and stakeholders, which will contribute towards strengthening of environmental education processes in Zambia .

This is because there is need for stakeholders and partners in involved in environmental issues to know what is going on in other places so as to support each other's efforts. This is the only way through which we will all effectively contribute towards strengthening of environmental education processes in Zambia , thereby maximise use of scarce human and financial resources.
