REVIEW OF THE ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT STATEMENT (EIS) REPORT
SUBMITTED BY SOUTHVIEW PARK HOUSING DEVELOPMENT LIMITED FOR THE PROPOSED UP-MARKET HOUSING ESTATE AND SHOPPING PROJECT OPPOSITE THE LILAYI ROAD TURN OFF ON KAFUE ROAD, LUSAKA

Southview Park Housing Development Limited a Zambian registered company is proposing to develop an integrated up-market housing estate, shopping centre, business park, community centre and play field on a 15ha area of land in the Lilayi area on Kafue Road. The site is located in Lusaka South (about 12km South of the Central Business District on the T2 Kafue Road) opposite the Lilayi road north of Baobab College formerly a portion of Eureka Farmland.

The project will involve construction of residential estates of 40 medium-cost housing units, Southview shopping centre of about 9,000square meters, Service Station, Gymnasium, a Crèche and Entertainment facilities. The project is expected to be implemented in three main phases spanning over a six year period at a cost of US$25 million.

This notice therefore, serves to inform members of the general public, interested and affected parties that an Environmental Impact Assessment Report for the proposed integrated up-market housing estate, shopping centre, business park, community centre and play field project in the Lilayi area on Kafue Road, Lusaka by Southview Park Housing Development Limited has been received by the ECZ for review. In accordance with the provisions of the Environmental Protection and Pollution Control Act Number 12 of 1990 as read with the Environmental Impact Assessment Regulations; SI. No. 28, of 1997, the report is available for scrutiny at the following places:

  1. ECZ Information and Documentation Centre, Lusaka;
  2. Kafue District Council, Civic Centre;
  3. Lusaka City Council Library;

The report will be available for inspection during working days from 09:00 hours to 16:00 hours. Interested and affected parties may send their written submissions to the undersigned not later than 25th June, 2010.
