Mwomboshi Syndicate a Consortium of commercial farmers (Auld Alliance, Hanre Limited, Herdon Investments, Lema Estates, Nzou Limited, Sable Farms, Bushcut Investments Ltd, and Vixers Ltd.) and small scale farmers (from Kalimna, Musopela, Chiwala, Hankwa, Toba and Malama Villages ) in the Chisamba Area of Central Province intends to construct an Earth Dam on the Mwomboshi River . The Project aims at providing a reliable water supply throughout the year for crop irrigation and animal watering. The Dam to be known as Mwomboshi Dam, will have its embarkment located on Mwomboshi farm No 3993 and Farm 1029 currently owned by Zambia Railways. The Catchement area for the earth dam will be around 950 sq Km with an average yield expected to be about 51,250,000m 3 at Full Supply (FSL). The length of the dam at full water supply will be 9.4km with a surface area of 965 hectares with the w all height above the river bed expected to be 27.5m This notice therefore, serves to inform members of the general public, interested and affected parties that an Environmental Impact Assessment Report for the Mwomboshi Dam Project has been received by the ECZ for review, in line with the provisions of the Environmental Protection and Pollution Control Act Number 12 of 1990 as read with the Environmental Impact Assessment Regulations; SI. No. 28, of 1997 and is available for scrutiny at the following places: The report will be available for inspection during office hours from 09:00 hours to 16:00 hours.
