REVIEW OF THE ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT STATEMENT (EIS) REPORTSUBMITTED BY AMANITA PREMIER OILS LIMITED FOR THE PROPOSED MUMA OIL PALM PLANTATION IN MPIKA

Amanita Premier Oils Limited intends to establish a palm oil plantation. The main focus shall be commercial cultivation of oil palm on a 25000ha land in Mpika , Northern Province of Zambia . The developer intends to plant oil palms on a long term leased land, and through out – growers. The project shall also involve construction of office buildings, workers houses, a palm oil factory, and an oil mill with a capacity of 20 metric tons FFB/hr.

This notice therefore, serves to inform members of the general public, interested and affected parties that an Environmental Impact Assessment Report for the Muma Oil Palm Plantation has been received by the Environmental Council of Zambia (ECZ) for review. This is in line with the provisions of the Environmental Protection and Pollution Control Act Number 12 of 1990 as read with the Environmental Impact Assessment Regulations; SI. No. 28, of 1997 and is available for scrutiny at the following places:

  1. Mpika District Council – Civic Centre
  2. Chief Kopa's Palace
  3. Environmental Council of Zambia Information Documentation Centre (IDC) in Lusaka

The report will be available for scrutiny during office hours from 08:00 hours to 13:00 hours and 14:00 hours to 17:00 hours. Interested and affected parties may send their written submissions to the undersigned.

The deadline for submission of comments is 25 th July, 2008 .
