Platinum Gold Equity Limited (PGE) is a Zambian Investment Management Group which acquired a 99 years lease of 5.69 hectares of land at Freedom Park in Kitwe . The area will be used for the development of a modern retail, leisure and hotel complex. The shopping centre will accommodate three major retailers and a mixture of specialised and general retailers. The leisure and recreational facilities will include a state-of-the-art multi-screen cinema-h all and a selection of full service restaurants as well as fast food outlets. A four star hotel with a Protea brand name will also be constructed and this will, in addition to accommodation provide conferencing, corporate, catering and leisure facilities. This notice therefore serves to inform members of the general public, interested and affected parties that an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the proposed Freedom Park Shopping and Hotel Complex was submitted by PGE to the Enviromental Council of Zambia (ECZ) for review. In accordance with provisions of the Environmental Protection and Pollution Control Act Number 12 of 1990, read together with the Environmental Impact Assessment Regulations (Statutory Instrument Number 28 of 1997), ECZ is now c all ing for public comments. To this effect, copies of the EIS are available for public comments at the following places: The documents will be made available to the public from 09:00 hrs to 16:00 hrs during working days. Written comments may be sent to the undersigned not later than 28 th April, 2008 . This notice also serves to invite members of the general public to a Public Hearing for the proposed Freedom Park Shopping and Hotel Complex be held on Saturday 26 th April 2008 at the Civic Centre in the Council Chamber at 14:00hrs.
