CALL FOR COMMENTS
 

REVIEW OF ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT STATEMENT (EIS) REPORT SUBMITTED BY SAFARI INTERNATIONAL ZAMBIA LIMITED FOR THE PROPOSED CHALIMBANA ECO - ESTATE AND GOLF CLUB IN CHALIMBANA, LUSAKA.

Safari International Zambia Limited is proposing to set up the Chalimbana Country Club on a 270.94 ha piece of land on Plot Number 6496/M about 15km east of Lusaka City Centre along Leopards Hill Road. The proposed development will entail the construction and operation of the following infrastructures:

 

  • A club house that will house administrative functions, conference rooms, restaurants, bars and indoor game rooms.
  • A one hundred and fifty (150) Room Botique Hotel
  • One Hundred and Fifty (150) Homes and Dam Lodges
  • A shopping and Office Complex
  • A Primary School
  • An eighteen (18) - hole golf course.
  • A multi-purpose recreation dam covering about 10.6 ha of land.
  • An Animal sanctuary covering of 270 ha of land.
  • A botanical garden and Theme Park.

 

This notice therefore, servesto inform members of the general public, interested and affected parties that an Environmental Impact Assessment Report for the Proposed Chalimbana Country Club Project has been received by the ECZ for review, in line with the provisions of the Environmental Protection and Pollution Control Act Number 12 of 1990 as read with the Environmental Impact Assessment Regulations; SI. No. 28, of 1997 and is available for scrutiny at the following places:

  1. Lusaka City Council – At the Civic Centre in room 503 and the Lusaka City Library in town;
  2. Chongwe District Council.
  3. Environmental Council of Zambia Offices - Information Documentation Centre (IDC) in Lusaka  ;

The report will be available for inspection during office hours from 09:00 hours to 16:00 hours. Interested and affected parties may send their written submissions to the undersigned. The deadline for submission of comments is 4th July, 2008 .
